TOOTING COMMUNITY KITCHEN LAUNCH EVENT
11am -12 noon Sunday 28th April
Outside Broadway Market, High Street, Tooting SW17
Begins with a minute of silence for the victims of last
Sunday’s atrocities in Sri Lanka
All are invited to this event to find out about Tooting Community Kitchen and meet the team.
Tooting Community Kitchen came into being a few months ago to provide a hot meal every Saturday evening to those who are homeless or otherwise in need. It operates outside Iceland in Tooting High Street. It’s run entirely by local volunteers who are out there in all weathers.
As well as providing the Saturday meal, Tooting Community Kitchen distribute supplies that homeless people lack, such as toiletries, and signposts them to sources of support. It works with shelters, refugee centres and other bodies that serve the homeless and vulnerable.
The event on 28th April is an opportunity to learn about Tooting Community Kitchen in the spot from which it operates and celebrate what it’s achieved so far. The Kitchen received a BATCA Community Award recently in recognition of its dedicated and enthusiastic service.
