Join your Tooting neighbours working together for clean air, safe walking and cycling, outdoor play, public space, trees and planting!
Tooting Healthy Streets is a new and growing community group, campaigning for active, safe, green and social streets for all.
Everyone is welcome to join us at our first public meeting for supporters on Monday 1st July
We are a diverse mix of residents, people who run local businesses and charities, faith communities and families with young children. We’re united in wanting to make Tooting an even better place to live, work, study, worship and play.
We have formed out of concerns that Tooting’s streets are polluted, traffic-dominated and unsafe for walking and cycling. Large parts of the neighbourhood lack easy access to open public spaces and play facilities.
We will work across the local community and with the authorities to achieve our four aims:
Active streets: a neighbourhood where walking and cycling are the natural option for local journeys for people of all ages and all local kids can enjoy walking, scooting and cycling to school
Safe streets: an end to road danger by creating calm streets no longer dominated by rat running and speeding traffic, with safe routes and crossings throughout the area
Green streets: a clean air neighbourhood, with streets and public spaces that are rich with trees, planting and wildlife
Social streets: opportunities for children to play outdoors and a more connected, less isolated community, where neighbours can get to know each other
