Support the South London Scrubbers Sewing scrubs for St George’s
Gill Upton from the Work and Play Scrapstore on the Hazlehurst Estate, Blackshaw Road, asks your support for the South London Scrubbers, a group of local women who have come together to sew urgently-needed scrubs for St George’s, Kings and Lewisham hospitals. Vital care is being postponed because scrubs are not available.
“We’re called South London Scrubbers and we formed only last week – on April 2nd, and have already delivered 80 scrub bags, 71 scrub hats and 16 sets of scrubs.
We’re already over 50 local women, all sewing for the NHS. We have a professional production line, of fabric buyers, electronic fabric cutters, delivery drivers and sewers with different skillsets.
We’ve set up a PayPal fundraising page and have already raised £6,000 which has enabled us to buy 2km of fabric so far. Many of the sewers have been using their own fabric to date, which is fine for the scrubs bags and washbags, but we need much more”
