Message from Forever Fishponds
Forever Fishponds is the group working to ensure that Fishponds Playing Fields in Hebdon Road, SW17 stay open in the longer term as an asset for the whole community. They invite you to let them know your priorities for the Fields’ future by 28th February: please see the questions below. They write:
Many of us are enjoying Fishponds Playing Fields being open in lockdown, and the precious opportunity this gives for fresh air and exercise near home.
Looking ahead: a ‘community offer’
It’s important to look ahead to the Fields’ future. The Council have recently said they plan to bring in new management arrangements for the Fields over the next few months. They are likely to announce plans in June for a tender exercise to seek a new partner to manage the Fields.
The Council have recognised however the need for community wishes to be reflected in the new arrangements and are committed to making a ‘community offer’ part of these.
Forever Fishponds will work to ensure that the community offer is based on what local people really want. We want to collect up to date views on these.
The community offer will sit in the context of Fishponds continuing designation as playing fields, which ensure provision for organised sport and its important contribution to local health and well being.
Forever Fishpond believes in a future for the Fields of shared compatible use for sport and community. We want to work with all concerned to help bring this about.
