Geoff writes:
So much is happening! Half a century on from those T.Rex Number one hits, we want to celebrate Marc Bolan’s teenage years in Summerstown with a blue plaque. Another one acknowledges a significant local musical landmark, the old TMC recording studios in Tooting, visited by some of the biggest names in reggae, glamrock and synthpop. We will mark the centenary of the momentous achievement of Albert Hill, Tooting’s extraordinary Olympic double gold medalist with a plaque on his home in Trevelyan Road. We intend to place one alongside the Wandle to salute workers champion, dyer and activist, Francis Kitz. We remember the remarkable heritage of the gypsy, traveller & costermonger community from Wardley Street. We continue to carry the torch for ‘Blooming Tooting’ welcoming another spring uprising of historic daffodils and the opportunity to visit the garden of ‘The Daffodil King’ through ‘The Peter Barr Experience’. And we’ll keep banging the drum for the heroic Corruganza BoxmakersTHANK YOU to everyone supporting our activities.
