Forever Fishponds – Open Meeting Tickets, Mon 10 May 2021 at 18:00 | Eventbrite

Forever Fishponds, the group of local residents and community bodies working to improve public access to Fishponds Playing Fields in Hebdon Road, SW17, invites everyone to an Open Meeting on zoom from 6-7.30 pm on Monday 10th May. The aim is to give all who have an interest in the future of the Fields the opportunity to say what matters to them, hear from others and explore finding an agreed way forward. If you’d like to come, you’re asked to register on the Eventbrite link above. Those coming are likely to include local residents, schools, sports clubs, community groups and councillors and it’s hoped, many more. Everyone is welcome. The full invitation is at https://mcusercontent.com/e47bff345ce57a3990d13aa54/files/be8eacda-671b-45c6-a2f6-d92fe36a0026/FF_10May_invitation_v2_1_2_.pdf

Forever Fishponds has explored local  people’s needs and wishes for using the Fields over the past few months, and drawn these together in its Community Offer document sent to the Council to assist it in preparing the exercise expected in the summer to find a new partner to manage the Fields. You can see it at https://mcusercontent.com/e47bff345ce57a3990d13aa54/files/1adf2442-101f-46db-892b-72ea9624baba/Community_Offer_Fishponds_Fields_v3.pdfThe Council have said they will include a ‘Community Offer’ in the new contract to take account of community needs.

Local people have drawn great benefits from the opportunities for exercise and play at the fields during lockdown and the boost this has given to physical and mental health. Forever Fishponds believes this access should continue, and as the Community Offer document explains, form part of a pattern of shared, compatible use covering both organised sport and informal sport/exercise/leisure use, to the benefit of all.
