The Thrale Charity’s grant scheme is special, as it focusses on funding local organisations which are helping vulnerable people in a few specific areas of South London, including Tooting and Balham. As a result, many local community groups and charities have benefited, among them several members of BATCA.
The Charity’s vision is:
“We have a vision of local communities that are resilient and sustainable; creating good places in which to live and grow older”.
New trustees
The Charity is now looking for two new trustees. The trustees role is to lead and oversee the Charity, which operates almshouses for women over 60 in Streatham as well as distributing around £40,000 in grants in Lambeth and Wandsworth each year. The Charity is small and responsive, and has a strong focus on community building as well as meeting need. Being a trustee would undoubtedly be interesting and rewarding.
