St Mary’s Church, Balham invites you to two very worthwhile online talks in support of their mission and work.
Dr Andrew Purkis OBE: The Roller Coaster: Leading the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund, 1998-2006 Thursday 17th June 7.30pm on zoom
Dr Purkis has had a distinguished career in the charity sector, having chaired the Green Alliance, Living Streets, and ActionAid, among other bodies, and has been a board member of the Charity Commission. His reflections on the process of leading the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund will make a fascinating evening.
Shahed Saleem: Mosque Design in Britain Today Thursday 1st July 7.30pm on zoom
Shahed is a leading architect and has written extensively. Besides being a practicing architect, he holds academic posts at the University of Westminster and the Bartlett School of Architecture. His book, The British Mosque: An architectural and social history, was published by English Heritage in 2018. His talk will be a unique opportunity to learn about an increasingly important strand of contemporary British architecture.
