|BATCA MULTI-FAITH PEACE CEREMONY
6-6.45pm on Thursday 18th November
Tooting Broadway tube station
Everyone is welcome at the BATCA Multi-faith Peace Ceremony, which will be held from 6-6.45pm on Thursday 18th November outside Tooting Broadway tube station. This in an inspiring occasion that celebrates our diversity and affirms our community’s strength and resilience.
At the event, clergy or leaders in robes of different faiths say a few words and prayers about peace in their own traditions, while the general public gather round to light candles and say a prayer or express a wish for peace. Leaders from the Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Jewish faiths are expected to take part.
Civic leaders play an important role. Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, and Cllr Richard Field, the Mayor of Wandsworth will be coming and briefly speaking, and other councillors and local leaders will be present. Senior pupils of Al Risalah Muslim secondary school will act as co-hosts.
The ceremony has been held every year since 2007, except in 2020 because of the pandemic. This will be the first ‘live’ BATCA event since lockdown so is a special occasion – please join us.
