It’s not long now until the BATCA Community Fun Day on Saturday 25th June! It’s one of Balham and Tooting’s biggest and best summer events and brings the whole community together as no other event does. Broadwater Road will be traffic free, making it Balham and Tooting’s biggest street party.
The Fun Day will feature attractions such as rides, inflatables, city farm animals, entertainers, sports and crafts, and stalls. Its famed multicultural food will showcase Indian/Pakistani, Somali, Caribbean, Arab and other cuisines.
Among the star attractions are
- Football fun from Crystal Palace AFC
- The Play Street where kids can enjoy traditional games such as hopscotch, hula hoops and beach cricket while parents rest in a deck chair nearby
- Smoothie bikes: peddle away and make your own smoothie
- Bungee jumping on giant trampolines.
The spirit of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will continue. Come and admire the art display and bake off on Jubilee themes organised by Gatton School and other Al Risalah Trust schools.
Community groups and charities representing Balham and Tooting’s buzzing life will be there in force spreading the message about their work. There will be stands and demos from the NHS and others promoting a healthy lifestyle and how to prevent disease.
The proceeds of the day will go to St Georges Hospital to support its campaign to renew and extend paediatric wards.
We are be pleased to welcome Dr Rosena Allin-Khan, MP for Tooting, Cllr Jeremy Ambache, the Mayor of Wandsworth, the Bishop of Kingston, and councillors and other civic and faith leaders.
SPREAD THE WORD! Please use this flyer to publicise the Fun Day as widely as you can. If anyone would like hard copies in A4 or A5 size, please let me know.
The Fun Day is organised by the schools of the Al Risalah Trust, St Augustine’s Church, Broadwater Rd and the Balham and Tooting Community Association. We thank the many local businesses and faith bodies that are generously sponsoring the Fun Day.
