Hustings 2019   arrow

Venue: All Saints Church Brudenell Road SW17 8DQ

All Saints Church was packed for the hustings on 3rd December. Five candidates (Rosena Allin-Khan (Labour), Kerry Briscoe (Conservative), Olly Glover (Lib Dem), Glyn Goodwin (Green) and Adam Shakir (Brexit party) answered questions from the audience on a wide range of topics, covering child poverty, climate change, Brexit, the NHS, Islamophobia and anti-semitism in the political process, and schools funding. They set out their views with energy and good humour, and the atmosphere was positive throughout.

This was an occasion that reflected Tooting’s diversity. All faiths, cultures and ages were represented in the audience, the questioners and the topics covered. There were many young people there. It was an inclusive, informative occasion appreciated by over 200 people.

We are grateful to All Saints Church for their generous hospitality, to the volunteers who helped beforehand and on the night, and to those who submitted questions. This was an evening of constructive debate that showed politics at its best.
